Oak is a hard wood, with a light to medium brown color heartwood. The sapwood is a slightly lighter color, and is sometimes difficult to distinguish. It a very durable and strong wood, used for a variety of products from crochet hooks to furniture. This is a beautiful piece and is wonderful to work with. It is a medium weight; slightly heavier than a bamboo, but feels great in your hand and is lovely to work with.
